The winning collection; Swahili fashion week 2010
The theme of the show was contemporary swahili....i took my inspiration from the swahili culture and the Indian ocean, the bottom of the dress is actually made as the waves and the black net is "fish nets" supposedly used by Swahili people for fishing...the dress is beaded and has sea shells....yellow is my Favorite color so I loved using it in my collection while neutralizing it with black
Doing my grand finale did not get a clear picture since I was moving very fast....(nervous),I love my two piece collection in bright yellow khanga mixed with black plain wax.My dress completed the collection..
When i was announced the winner (Aisee nilipanick), I came running and jumped on poor Deo...I was so excited that my hardwork really paid off, thanks to the lord,my family and friends,Mustafa Hassanali and the Swahili fashion week team and everyone who has been supporting all this time.
Posing with Mustafa Hassanali after the show for a memorable moment....
Check out my winning smile(CHEKO LA USHINDI)

Wild UP; Zebra print
We love to hate animal prints yet they always seem to make a comeback on high street fashion.
The wild animal prints theme have come roaring back onto fashion scene of late. From handbags and shoes to diaper bags and bed linens, this hot, fun and funky trend seems here to stay.
I got hold of this zebra print fabric a two years ago,i felt attached to it the moment i saw it but.......when i bought i just couldn't really figure out what to with it,i thought of making wild pillow cases but i felt it could be wasted so i thought of making this skirt I am wearing right now....a gathered skirt with a big belt,i decided to pair it with a pink blouse with matching shoes and belt......
DO YOU LIKE THIS LOOK?HOW WOULD YOU WEAR ANIMAL PRINT?

QUOTE OF THE DAY
I’ve redefined my definition of beauty. I’ve removed the long extensions that a gracious Indian/Malaysian or Brazilian donated to make me feel more prettier I’ve removed the chemicals from my hair.
I’ve realized that colonialism still lives within us. I refuse to only feel beautiful with someone else’s long hair intertwined into my coarse roots. I refuse to slather my hair in calcium hydroxide to obtain “beautiful” silky hair.I am African. My hair is kinky, my skin is brown, and my cheekbones are high.I am beautiful, and I am not my hair. JADILI AFRICAJIPENDE,
JITHAMINI,
JIKUBALI.
KWA SABABU HAKUNA KAMA WEWE.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY.
