SUBIRA WAHURE: "THE FUTURE OF TANZANIAN FASHION"

Emerging designer Competition Winner Subira Wahure and Mustafa Hassanali, organizer of Swahili Fashion Week.

NDANI YA SWAHILI FASHION WEEK!!

Subira Rahma Wahure developed an interest in fashion at a very young age after being influenced by her mother who was a tailor.
She won the Best Emerging Designer Competition at 2010’s Swahili Fashion Week when she was still a student at University of Dar Es Salaam, pursuing her degree in Fine and Performing Arts.

Subira’s style is pure and simple; she uses vibrant bold African prints and colorful fabrics such as khanga, kitenge, tartan and batiki as a reflection of her ethic origins as well as combining silk, chiffon and satin which draws a representation of the African diaspora. She draws inspiration from the vibrancy, culture and sunshine of Africa.

Apart from Swahili Fashion Week, she has showcased her designs at 2010’s Red Ribbon Fashion Gala.

Welcome on Board

Baby steps is what we all start our movements with, and am making mine.
Just like my name Subira, a Swahili word for "Patience",
wait with me when am beautifully and fashionably dressing those who like to flaunt their style.
